The other night I was home alone. The middle of the night the bed shook and I heard a noise. My big shepherd does this routinely. I thought it was him. I got up and there was nobody in the room with me. I turned the light on and he was not in the room with me. He was laying on what we call the dog bed. ( A bed we have in a spare bedroom). He raised his head and looked at me, so I know it wasn't him. Not sure what shook the bed and made a noise.
Good Evening, Chiefnut.. Since this happened in the middle of the night, my first thought was hypnapompic hallucinations. This strange phenomenon occurs when you are in that nether region between sleep and wakefulness.. a true altered state. In this state people experience all manner of hallucinations: visual, auditory, olfactory, tactile, the works. Most 'ghosts' turn up at this time, as do sounds so realistic that people get out of bed to answer the phone or doorbell, or to respond to a baby's crying. I am curious about the noise. Was it guttural, something a human or animal may have produced? Or was it mechanical such as a thump or crash? Having said all this, there is no way to say for sure whether this was a natural, albeit bizarre experience, or if perhaps it was indeed paranormal in origin. Have there been other incidents such as this one in this house? M!
Hi and I work nights and was deciding whether to get up or not when this happened. It was just kind of a groan and our dog makes noise's like this. I thought it was him. We remodeled our bathroom about 7 yrs ago. Since that time our bedroom has been an area where we have felt some one or stomething sit on the end of the bed. Climb into bed with me and the Mrs. on more than one occas. My wife was webcamming with her sister one night and I was at work. She asked my wife that she thought I was at work. She said I was and she told her then who walked behind you? It seemed to happen a lot at 1st after the remodeling and now maybe every 4-5 months something happens.
Hi, Chiefnut! Ookay.. there is a history of what could well be paranormal activity in your house! As I am sure you are aware, messing with a structure in the name of 'renovation' sometimes triggers activity from spirits that had kept a very low profile and peacefully co-existed with the flesh and blood residents of the structure for years. Not sure why this should be. If they view the structure as it was in their time, perhaps the change in very familiar surroundings confuses them, or could be they are annoyed at the gall of anyone who would try to improve on what they perceive as perfection. In any case, this is not uncommon. I am thinking your cool new bathroom may not be as appreciated by any resident spirits as it was by you. This displeasure may manifest in your bedroom. What exactly did your wife's sister see standing behind her? Whatever it was must have been solid enough for her to mistake it for a living, breathing entity. This sitting on and climbing into bed with you and your wife is a mite too close up close and personal for my taste. If this bothers you, may I suggest you speak to who/whatever is doing this, requesting him/her to kindly stop. I would speak politely, but firmly enough so it is very clear there are no options here to cease or not cease at its discretion. YOU are living there now, and three in the bed make a crowd. It is a curious story, and I think perhaps a bit of research into the house/flat/apartment is in order. I am betting there is information out there that could perhaps throw light on the causes of this activity. Muriel!
Yes we have been told that doing renovation's can trigger activity. The wife's sister just saw someone walk behind my wife. The sitting and climbing into bed at times we thought it was each other going to bed. Doesn't really bother us too much. We watch ghost hunters and are interested in the paranormal. Research into the house is simple in that the people that built it has passed and both of them passed away not in the house. We find the activity more curious that anything. Nothing harmful or mean.
Hello Again.. You are absolutely right.. this is not harmful nor mean, and a laid back attitude is indeed the way to go. And there certainly is enough activity to keep you entertained and in a perpetual state of curiosity. Have you tried taking pictures or trying for an EVP while the activity is in progress? M!
Haven't tried a lot of pics or EVP sessions. We should probably do that, but activity now is so sporadic. Don't know if we will get anything.
Hello Again! Of course you don't know whether or not you will be successful but hey, if you don't try you can be sure you will not get anything. I think I would just take pictures, especially in areas where activity is strongest, and try for an EVP. If you are not comfortable talking to this entity, just leave a tape recorder running and walk away. I am very curious to learn whether or not you are successful. M!
We have taken pics but so far nothing. We are buying a tape recorder next week and will let you know if we hear anyhing.
